Trees |

There you stand Rooted in earth Swayed by winds Moved by dendrite Hair as leaves Skin as bark Tendon fibres Hardwood bone Marrow pith Bloody sap In your guilt You thought me to be the enemy and hid yourselves among the trees. There you stand Figs and cedars Olives and oaks Seeing far less than the blind man who was healed and upon first sight Saw men as trees, walking. There you sway Between glory and guilt Between heaven and earth Like Absalom and Judas. Until you die upon the tree as Jesus died in selfless love and rise again to truth. |
