Touch

Touch pulled away
leaving fingertips yearning, burning,
stung by rejection, not understanding.
In the dark of the room, beside me
a space, a warmth on the sheet, empty now.
Heart wondering whether to beat or not,
hesitates, afraid to try again, then,
a rustle in the dark, movement on the bed,
and the space between us
is empty no more.

Forgiveness...

that's how it came to me, Jimmie...

And warmth.  A lot of warmth.

Well done.  I could feel the cold spot, and then the relief when the rustle came.
