How Santa Got His Reindeer

When Santa first decided to go up to the North Pole
He brought his elves along to fill a most important role
They made all of the presents for the children everywhere
But then he had a problem, just how would he get them there?

There was so much snow and ice he couldn’t use his wagon
His horses tried to pull it ‘til their tails they were a draggin’
So Santa soon decided that he’d find another way
Finally he decided that he’d have to build a sleigh

The elves and Santa labored ‘til the sleigh was built at last
But then he found that all his horses had been frozen fast
No horses could survive the cold and frigid arctic air
So Santa still had no way to get all the presents there

Santa could not think of any creature living near
To pull his sleigh, until he saw a herd of wild reindeer
They’re just the thing thought Santa, and the elves went out with him
And working hard together they soon captured eight of them

They say that it was quite a sight when Santa and his elves
Tried to break those reindeer in the snow all by themselves
But finally they got it done though it was quite a chore
With the reindeer hooked up to the sleigh they couldn’t ask for more

The reindeer pulled the loaded sleigh as easy as you please
With Santa’s magic bells on them they rose up on the breeze
Ole Santa hopped onto the sleigh as it began to rise
He cracked his whip and the sleigh took off into the snowy skies

They stopped at every rooftop visiting all the girls and boys
Bringing with them candy, games, and lots and lots of toys
So that my friends is how ole Santa got his reindeer team
And truly that’s the story just as strange as it may seem
