To Voices Silent

As Winter settles around me
and I hear the treasured sings,
those memories resound the joy
of pasttimes on my swing.

When I would have in penciled hand
words readied to pour out,
gently pressed to paper's face
till edged the loss of doubt.

It is these days that hold me there
awakening each dawn,
standing strong in shadowed thought
to words that I am drawn.

To voices silent but spoken once
from lips that touched this heart.
What can one say, what can when do
when lives go on apart?

I grieve the loss of "almost was"
but know behind this face,
tomorrow brings a second chance
to fill that empty space.

Morning writes releasing thoughts,
the smallest reflections of,
knowing what it feels like to
have been at least in love.

Ma'am this was a very sweet poem. It reminded me when I was 15 and me and my first love would go to the park every week, and swing for hours talking. Even though I swing alone now, it brought back some great memories. I liked the way you reflected back in a postitve manner in the ending of this poem. Nicely done

Excellent, lovely 'write':

Especially 'meaningful' for me was:

"I grieve the loss of 'almost was'
but know behind this face,
tomorrow brings a second chance
to fill that empty space."

[the above rather 'difines' me in this time
and place!]

Grand applause!

Grinning, felt I was on schoolyard swings!

Now, the picture capped it off perfectly.
