My angel sings the midnight blues She’ll only sing to me No one else can hear her croon The haunting melody She cries her heart beneath her wings Of white and powder blue Maybe if you see her first She’ll sing a song for you Her tears slide down from off her face Diamonds and pearls entwined And when I try to capture them She doesn’t seem to mind As I pull them through a strand of gold Tear after precious tear I hum an old familiar tune And watch them disappear She loves to sit by the window sill And gaze out at the sea Its azure depths are the only thing As deeply blue as she My angel has no harp to play No halo for her head But her melancholy makes me wish Her blues were mine instead When she sings, my own heart plays a tune As she strums the chords and strings And makes me feel as though I’ve grown A pair of angel wings I always make the same mistake And ask her why she cries But she only gives her head a shake And away my angel flies. |

Jess, I was looking at some of my old poems and responses and found you had responded. Thought I'd check out your posts. Glad I did. Especially liked: "My angel has no harp to play No halo for her head But her melancholy makes me wish Her blues were mine instead" Much enjoyed. Have a good day. |
