I no longer believe in love, I no longer care to think, I never want to love again, Into despair... please let me sink. Oh, sorrow come and steal me, And take away the hope, Usurp my breaking heart, And hang it by a rope. Let vultures feed upon it, And tyrants laugh with glee, May I slide into a chasm, Just my love, my hope and me. When no more am I in this life, Let the next but bring its light, For I've never seen the sunrise, But lived each day as tho' 'twere night. And if light to me be granted, As it should for loving men, Let no pain impede that joy, I wish to feel again. But why does pain accompany love, And curse the gentle souls, That only wish to see the good, That life sometimes extols. No answers are forthcoming, And no answers can God give, And a wasted life comes to those, Who only wish to live. Is love most men's undoing, Yes... but all I know, It's not the fact you loved, But the journey to make it so. So, if you travel along life's path, And stop along the way, You know the joy that love brings, For love is life's bouquet. So, take the first small step, On the journey God did plan, You'll see the history of suffering, That plagued all of man. Did she beg for you to love her? No- she called no name you knew, But she always said she loved... It simply wasn't you. So, no, I can't believe in love, A waste of breath, it seems, A belief for true romantics, To see in only dreams. But desire can be misleading, To those who love and care, You search for love in places, But the places just aren't there. But when loving... all men gamble, To find that soul to share, She never took my love, For another, she only cares. So, what is mortal man to do, To ease the pain in each? Just love a little harder, And tell her with your speech. If a flame of love exists, Within her gentle heart, She'll eventually discover, You should not be apart. When that day arises, And the journey is at an end, You'll be blessed with wife and lover, With a companion and a friend. So, strive to win her cherished love, Don't let pain get in the way, Just love her soul entirely, And tell her every day. Poetry is just the evidence of life. |
