I am broken in my hoped future I don’t know if I see you, my love, in it. I am saddened by the future love, Because I know that when I have good days, bad ones will follow And that those days will be an ending point—like tomorrow can’t happen. But you, my love, you will be still, you will be calm. You will be sharing tomorrow with someone else, in someone else’s car, In someone else’s home, and I will be forgotten. I am broken in the future my love, You see, it was because I wrote this poem, This is a longing inside, a whish to live long, a promise to a king, And the swearing on my mothers grave— though I don’t want to hurt her. So let me covet your cigarette, and bogart the ashes; Because you never know when the future might come my love. I am the two-toed wanderer |
