Separated I am nought like a thought before a word stuck inactive in a void of nonexistence and in this empty space there exists no passageway into the realm of expressive love. And yet with the masses I stand in comradeship learning all the moves to swallow what’s unused and every day one by one I ingest the particles like poison fed deliberately to the innocent. It’s the self control of feel and the hiding well of me that melds the joints of freedom to the bones of apathy and no daily stretch and bend into the commonplace brings me to the touch and keep of natural release. So flies the bird of happiness away, away, away, when he who holds the key remains as a dream! Helen / 5 December 2006 |

This is powerful stuff. And yet with the masses I stand in comradeship, learning all the moves to swallow what’s unused, and every day one by one, I ingest the particles like poison fed deliberately to the innocent. I'll need some time to ingest all the implications of this piece. This particular piece of poetry, for me, brings out the best of what poetry is about, and that is, that it allows each and every one of us to look for the truth that resides in all of us. It gives us the courage to do that, when otherwise, left to our own devices, we would avoid the truth like the plague. For let's face it, the truth can hurt like the dickens. Personally, I feel that poets are one of the best breed of people out there, because whether we recognize it or not, we are constantly rooting inside ourselves for the truth, no matter where that may lead us, then we turn around and graciously share it with the masses. So, let's hear it for the poets, both far and wide. HIP, HIP HURRAY To thy own self be true |
