TOWARD WHOLISTIC HEALING

the pouring
of holy water
bored an opening
they tried
to plug
with the name
of a saint

I was taught
to pray
to rumours
and hallucinate
miracles

and a guilt
that set fire
to shadows
brought a cancer
to my teenage
hands
and testicles

but as the cancer
moved through me,
I moved
through it

now I know
that as I suffer
the cancer
suffers too
