The one I thought I loved
Had a shadow standing near,
And when love seemed to have won
That's when her shadow appeared,
I never saw your shadow
You were hidden from my view,
At last I glimpsed your beauty,
Then your shadow's all I knew.
Clarity woke within me,
Your sunlight touched my soul,
I found comfort in your shadow
And felt your shadow take control,
Though a shadow has no light,
No form that most can know,
'Twas in the light I always suffered,
Yet in your shadow... I could grow,
You're such a special shadow,
With a warmth no light can feel,
Now the light I cannot see,
Yet your shadow I can't conceal,
As I wander through my life,
And witness beauty in all things,
I have never seen such beauty,
Like the beauty your shadow brings,
And when at last I touch the shadow,
And I feel its warm embrace,
The light reveals the shadow,
From the shadow comes your face,
The shadow is diminished,
The love you give is not,
And I only see the shadow now,
For the light has been forgot,
In another place called comfort,
In another time called... we,
Is a place where I could have loved you,
Where our shadows could be free,
And will the day arrive
When our shadows will combine,
Who knows but maybe one day
In that shadow... you, I'll find.

Wow... Thank You! I didn't think this poem was very good. I have about 25 readers in my blog, and was never commented on. Thanks for letting me know.

This is GOOD, Bill, for those who can really understand the "shadow" concept.  Sadly, most are unable to and that's probably why it perhaps went unnoticed on your blog.

Thanks. Maybe i should have shortend the poem and gave it more clarity. *lol* R that is not a dumb question, but unfortunate that I closed my blog do to lack of Constructive Critiques. It is a shame, but in light of closure I came here.

This is truly awe inspiring trutodaraiders,

I know I'm revealing my age here, but what the hell, it also reminds me of the opening line of the old tv series 'The Shadow.' The saying went 'Only the shadow knows.'
