Birched Beauty

slender and white
rising high
against fall's
bluest sky
birch beauty is splendor
in motion
commotion heaves
among fall leaves
and birch grows slowly
naked,
to await winter's gray
and starker days
to come
forever reaching upward
toward it's crown
of stardust glory
or to tickle with
skeletal fingertip
sun's chin, as an entreaty
for yet a little more shine
from which a new
dress of spring
sprung green
shall bloom,
all for the
reclothing of
the birch beauty
in splendor
