     The Breakup
        _____

She traced the outline of his name
in the sand with her toe,
not knowing what to say
as she silently watched him go.

She glanced at his retreating form
as he hurried down the beach,
his image growing fainter
until he was out of reach.

A tear fell down her cheek
as she slipped a ring from her finger.
She tossed the ring into the water,
then turned to leave, no need to linger.

The ring washed out to sea
guided by a gentle wave,
and now on the ocean floor,
the ring lays in it's silent grave.

Soulful, the tears of the sea.
Well done.

Eloquent...

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.
