Along a road was a pond, stagnant; it was a giant mirror. And I thought if my body fell into that mirror-water, maybe it would put me into another world, one the opposite of this one, where the left was right and the right was left and its people know that what you call it doesn’t matter because either way the middle is better because its more thoughtful. And people are less thoughtless because they see the world; they know that their world is a gift, that their existence is a mystery; that their spirit is sacred, and that everything is shining. So I went to the mirror, I leapt inside. Crash. I ruined the solid surface and rippled the mirror. I sunk farther and farther and emptied my lungs. Now, I don’t know if it was the deepening water or my eyes fading, but soon I didn’t see a thing at all. I guess I was wrong about what a utopia is, but I found something better. If you don’t exist, what sadness can I feel, what happiness? I found the middle I guess; I found complete neutrality. I am the two-toed wanderer [This message has been edited by themute (11-26-2006 11:33 AM).] |
