Trite, Yet True
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

There are things as sure as taxes,
There are things that sink like stone.
There are buckets that are kicked,
There are curves that are thrown.

There are eyes as big as saucers,
There are teeth all full of bugs.
There are mountains to be climbed,
There is dirt shoved under rugs.

There are pockets full of posies,
There are cups full of cheer.
There are sails in the sunsets,
There are eyes wide with fear.

There are cradles that need rocking,
There are songs yet to be sung.
There are skeletons in the closet,
There are shingles to be hung.

There are bats in the belfries,
There are birds in thorny bushes.
There are blackbirds baked in pies,
There are shoves as well as pushes.

There are pennies that are saved,
There are pennies that are earned.
There are searches high and low,
There are lessons to be learned.

There are homes as big as castles,
There are cars that turn on dimes.
There are rings around the rosies,
There are reasons. There are rhymes.

There are tempests in little teapots,
There are bonnets full of bees.
There are birds in the hand,
There are collars full of fleas.

There are artists who are starving,
There are things that run amok.
There are people strong and silent,
There are those who walk their talk.

There are paths, straight and narrow,
There are pots at rainbow’s end.
There are trials and tribulations,
There are those yet ‘round the bend.

There are ducks all in a row,
There are hearts worn on a sleeve.
There are pennies for your thoughts,
There are senses taking leave.

There are mouths with two sides,
There are folks who have short fuse.
There are monkeys on their backs,
There are brains that they don’t use.

There are wells full of wishes,
There are the ‘big ones’ that got away.
There are times to spill your guts,
There are times to kneel and pray.

There are spoons made of silver,
There are pots at rainbow’s end.
There are cucumbers that are cool,
There are shoulders that you lend.

There are birds who rise up early,
There are hawks who love the night.
There are those who’ve loved and lost,
There are those who fought good fight.

There are worlds in an oyster,
There are folks wound tight as drum.
There are those as loose as goose,
There are some full of rum.

There are babes in the woods,
There are pigs in a poke.
There are apples in your eyes,
There are butts of a joke.

There are moments of touching heaven,
There are moments of living hell.
There are moments to be remembered,
There are moments that ring your bell.

There are ants in your pants,
There are hearts worn on sleeves.
There are stars in your eyes,
There are smiles saying cheese.

There are battles to be fought,
There are wars to be won.
There is much to see and do,
Until your days are done.

Hi, Martie!

I was really wracking my brain to come up with them!

Then getting them to rhyme was a whole other ball game! Ooops! There's another one!

There are poems to be read
There are comments we should make
There isn't much you that you don't touch
T(here) in these words, for Goodness Sake!

Love it, Linda.  Big Hugs!

There are things that I must do
and one of them is reading you.

I am glad this was brought forward, I must have missed it... So many thoughts, but they made me smile remembering their meanings.
