In a Pennsylvania pasture, on a blue sky kind of day The devil came to Nickel Mines, and took the girls away The tender tiny darlings, in their bonnets and blue gowns The most innocent of innocence, now buried in the ground The elders grieved, the mothers cried, the fathers held their breath How could they have predicted, the killings and the death Forgiveness came in the same gasp, as did their grief and pain The Amish know their God is near, they'll see them all again In a Pennsylvania pasture, on a blue sky kind of day The devil came to Nickel Mines, and took the girls away |

Oh such a sad write...and such a horrible event. Yet, the Amish are so quick to forgive.. But with forgiveness comes healing. Well done! Autumn, the year's last loveliest smile~ |

A very gentle write about a horrible tragedy. Thank you for your tender memory, which underscores the gentleness of the Amish way. |

Thanks all & thanks for the welcome Martie There is no decent place to stand in a massacre...but if a woman takes your hand, then go and stand with her. |
