Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

The sun beat down upon the old 4X4 truck
Its bed piled high with children and hay
Laughter filled the air as they jumped
Dried grass tamped by small feet
Arms and braids flew under mid day heat
Skin, lightly burned, itched from sweat and straw
Strong arms lifted the pitchforks
Fragrance heaped
Higher and higher to the clouds
The sweet aroma of summer filled their senses

Pure voices soared as children sang the songs of their fathers
Off-key, off-color lyrics as their mothers blushed
Eyes lit with humor, they playfully slapped their husbands to hush them
Working and flirting before the rains came.

this poem is what I would call a most grand example of the finest "slice-of-life"
(Impressionism) poesy!.....

I LOVE this poem....what a 'write'!....
it certainly greadly cheered what has been the burnt out end of an incredibly long and rather nasty day for me!

You know, I was having a crappy day too and your response was like a bandaid on a child's boo boo.  I magically feel better.

Thank you,
Alison

How I fondly remember those days on my granparents' farm.
Thanks for reminding me

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Thank you -- I love to share with each of you as I love to read the words that you share with me.

Kinda wonderful how it all works.

It is strange how you can create a world with words that I long to be in, off colour lyrics and all.
May I join you there one day?
