I don't feel like assuming the roll doning the tattered robes and tarnished crown of "Mom at large" how many times have I sat upon that rickety throne still stained with rotten tomatos and raggedy boots? too many to count The first time I wore a blind fold, smoked the ciggarette, and poked out my chest to take it like the man I never was bore the berating of mothers before me felt the cut of razor sharp tongues of strangers still, there's nothing like your own to beat you down I'm tired! One girl after another failed themselves pointing fingers everywhere but at their own reflections in a procession of ceremonial mourning lay baskets full of mistakes upon me when my lap brimmed with my own But such is motherhood My only consolation is, "one day" and it will surely come, sooner for some than others when the "I hate you's" will carve the heart from beneath breasts that fed them When they'll band together to form some awesome creature that stalks broken hearted parents everywhere then they'll know she will know hopefully before she fits her dogs in tainted trails four times before five, counting mine Open thy eyes child and see God bless you ~Sunkissed 2005 |

still, there's nothing like your own to beat you down I'm tired! ~*~ One girl after another failed themselves pointing fingers everywhere but at their own reflections in a procession of ceremonial mourning lay baskets full of mistakes upon me when my lap brimmed with my own But such is motherhood &&& Dang...it is so good to read you again. And this is a poem that every mother should understand... and every father should read at least once. |

"The first time I wore a blind fold, smoked the ciggarette, and poked out my chest to take it like the man I never was bore the berating of mothers before me felt the cut of razor sharp tongues of strangers" I am not going to be able to express how much I admire this poem it's truly amazing... |

Sunkissed -- you are so right and I will hope for you (and for me, too) that someday there will be some knowing on the part of our children. It usually happens when they have their own....very good writing......jo |
