I wonder what they’re doing
down in Newstead Abbey
where the Indian summer marks the sky
in patterns of grey and bronze,
haloing them in the fading light.
Where perfumed petals of roses
fall under their feet
to be crushed unknowing
beneath their intercourse.

I wonder what they’re doing
down at Newstead Abbey?
As they inhale coffee,
fragrant and steaming
to intertwine words with
the scent and evening air.
Their discussion of poets long dead
mingling with the chill of autumn
and wafting on the hint of winter.

I wonder what they’re doing
down at Newstead Abbey,
where geese honk mourning
and offer feathered quills
to make a promise of repose
for them to lie on
where they have intimate dealings
with words and the romance that surrounds them.

I wonder what they’re doing
down at Newstead Abbey?
While I toil away at work
tasting the ash of a dead marriage
and thinking of all that is going on.
I may not have poetry in my soul
but I don’t lack imagination
and passion still runs hot
at the thought of him being with another…

discussing poetry, only poetry.

Captivating and creative imagination. THAT particular thought might cause anxiety, but you release it in your words, I hope!

Love,

Seymour,
unfortunately it's all in my head.

Margerhetia, He was a gentleman through and through I just wondered what his wife might have been thinking before she met and saw me for who I was.

Cheers

Keth, your strength
is as passionate as ever...

and poetry is the backbone
of your very soul.

Kudos, lady Poet....
