"Rise up my love, my fair one,
and come away."-Song of Solomon 2:10

I am the
shulamite maiden
though I hide in the clefts of rock
night shall take delight in me
pressing
for the sweetness
betwixt my breasts

morning shall call me forth
sun shall cry for my kiss
rain weep for the goblet
of my round navel

my beloved shall find me
by the smell of pomegranate
of wheat and lilies

there is a balm in gilead
that calls to me
cries fetch me

ripe
smell of deep fruit
loroco buds
linden leaves
still dripping honey
stored in clay
it calls to me

I shall
stroke it
on his thighs
weep
as the prophet wept
caress it on his belly
where I rest my head
stain it
on his neck
his neck that thickens
as the tower of david

thus so
shall I tell him
this sweet balm cried
for you
and I ministered

you are my white and ruddy beloved
and I am
your young bride
shulamite maiden

Kate, it is good to see your words again, very much to my delight.  This is one of my favorite of yours, incredible imagery in this masterpiece.

Lady
When you cantilate you surely cantilate.
And that was a read worth reading.

Breath-takingly wonderful.
That's all I have to add to what has been said.

No, I have to also say that I am in love with your poetry.

There.  NOW that's all I have to add.

Yep.
