One Step Forward

One step forward
Two steps back
See all I can be
Know all that I lack
Lose myself in what was
Keep my mind on track
One step forward
Two steps back.

You took my hand
My heart slipped down
Slid past my elbow
Past my fingers
And round
Into your hand.
You keep it.

One step forward
Don’t look back
Your eyes capture mine
My guard starts to slack
You whisper so softly
Walls start to crack
One step forward
No turning back.

Your arms wrapped about me
I melted within
Your warmth seeps against me
My own warmth begins
To burn away doubt
Leaving pure love bared
You keep me.

I like this lots .. plus, it kind of fits with where I am mentally right now. You touched me a lot, Sandra, and actually ... honestly ... I am blinking at few tears right now. It's like you wrote of my soul too. Good poem to reach into me so deeply and hold me.
