With eyes deceptively open I thought myself in control; dangerously turned on and off the Light of the Son to suit the satisfying of my desires. As I set about finding a way around the barricades with which I was continually confronted; deception glazed over the harm that came to myself and others. But when doused in a darkness, out of my control; when even sunlit memories were stripped from my reach, I stumbled and hurt, recovered to stumble again. Demons mercilessly jabbed at faults real and imagined and prodded me towards guilt traps that I obligingly fell into. When choices ahead seemed slim and going backwards yet more hopeless; when the enveloping darkness swallowed all clues of direction I at last grasped the need for a Savior held on for dear life and turned toward a Guide, not seen, but trusted. |
