Wandering
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

In wild woods I’m wandering,
And know not where I go.
I’m lost in the underbrush,
With my head hanging low.

I’m trekking thru’ the hinterlands,
Where all is stripped down bare.
Cold winds blow unimpeded,
As I’m heading to no where.

I’m crawling on my hands and knees,
In search of promised land.
But all I find is charcoal bricks,
~ Not gold at rainbow’s end.

I trudge up rugged roadways,
To find there’s nothing there.
~ Just lots of empty promises,
And sadness everywhere.

~*~

But as the dawn is breaking,
I see before my eyes,
The glorious sun shining
On the road to paradise.

“Happiness is a state of mind.
Think happy! ~ Be happy!”

Aha! You found it, too
Isn't it GLORIOUS?

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Oh, yes! "GLORIOUS" indeed! Some days it is a little difficult to find, but I know it's there and that I will soon get back on it!

Have a glorious day, Doc!

It seems when we are at our lowest point we see the way if we just raise our heads.  Thank you for sharing this lovely poem -- you are a beautiful writer and person.

Ahhh, wandering with you and standing in awe together watching the sun rise ... also within our hearts.

Yes, like Goldenrose says, you are a beacon of hope and light.

Wonderfully uplifting write.

Love and hugs.

Steve ~

Without that "ray of hope", life can be downright dismal at times! The sun is always shining even behind the darkest cloud!

For me, this ‘write’ is a fine  expression of  the “every-person’s” quest for that
‘morning star’! [in all our lives of far too many wild-wooded thorns and ‘charcoal bricks’!]...May all the 'different paths' we travel.... ultimately lead to where we stand...and may that only be for each and all of us....on the leadin' edge of that sun-drenched road in the outskirts of such a 'paradise'!

My Sweet Linda, I am so very glad you added
the last verse.....I waas beginning to get
worried about you. This is so beautiful, though.
Kind of sad, but beautiful just the same.

Wandering... seems like I spend half of my life doing that, always looking for something else.  I can really relate to your poem, and I especially like the last stanza because it so well expresses there is light around the corner, so to speak.  A beautiful write, as I knew it would be!

hugs

Dear Ethel Mae

You need not fear. I am somewhat of an Unsinkable Molly Brown. I have the ability to bounce back at whatever is thrown at me in life. Yes, there is the bitter schtuff ~ but  there is also an abundance of sweet nectar!

I've been thinking of you.
