Night creeps in,
heavy is the sleep on eyes
that have seen their share of crying
past midnight into the dawn

sleep comes no more
when lines are drawn
acrossed eyelids sheltered
behind glasses of rose
where sleeplessness does impose
burdens of night blend into day
come sweet sleep oh please, I pray.

Yes, a nice blending of two surges of emotion.  Don't ya just hate when sleep
does not come easily....too often our minds
have a lot to do with it...

Welcome...I really enjoyed your poem. You've found a place to come when sleeplessness hits you..I know. I'm an insomniac a lot of the time.

This is the second poem (in two days) that has me dancin’ the ‘Shakespeherian Rag’ [..and, yes, that’s spelled that way on purpose!]...(to sleep perchance to dream; etc.)....and it also slips me into that state of 'poetically-induced' dejavu...
that this is a slice of the “every-person's"
life kinda’ feelin’...that ’been there/done that'(many times) state of consciousness....
wherein similarities of experience make one feel not so ‘alone’; etc.!  Thank you for this write!
