slipping metal scenery
from the coastal suggestions

she screams at the islands
vulture song with wolf voice
makes the sin men shiver
and jump for gravel salvation

lest their black ink runs
into red ink erasures down town
where the sweepers sort keys
and hide the backward census

from the travel bag braggers
that come to cozyville on sunday
to buy statues of saint dean
and pepper flavored rosaries
