Mostly I'm The Girl With The Kite Mostly I'm the girl with the kite, except there is no kite, no park and I run anyway; just running out with legs a-wheel all helter skelter up the breeze, trailing the imaginary string. And up it goes until it doesn’t anymore, and how the tail would weave behind, its bow knots turning esslike in the sun, how the kite just starting to settle, see how its yellow head wags side to side like a disappointed mother. But this isn’t there and I’m not nor walking back, lining my feet just so to pin it to the ground; toe walking prim, assiduous as if it were a tightrope strung so perilously high and with no particular sense in me, of why. |

This one is a sort of follow-poem to this one.... /pip/Forum95/HTML/002703.html ....I have thought much about that poem since I wrote it, and which of the people in it I really am. I knew then, but later I started to wonder. Now I know. Mostly, I'm the girl with the kite. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

Nice writing...I was at Ko Olina taking in some sun yesterday and watched a wedding party from my position on the cove... They released five helium filled doves, at first when they were holding them I thought they were kites...it was nice watching them float away on the horizon and into the clouds...James |

Oh I do love balloons....especially the free range kind! When I find one that has lost its way and settled to the ground, I'll always give it a new lease on life if I can....by cutting back (or off) the ribbon, and even the little rubber inflating ring if that's what it takes.....and then I set it free to rise again, if only for a little while. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

I keep waffling over which lines are my favorite... which indicates to me that I'm reading something particularly special... a poem where each line is such a delight it holds my attention... but the whole is so cohesive I can't bear to pick it apart. *S* Through the magic of a child's imagination, you let us all feel flight with this one... even adults dragging feet of lead. *S* Beautiful, beautiful work!!!! Oh... and I do that with balloons I find outside, too. *S* But I was entertained for weeks once with a balloon deflating in my apartment... and my cats pouncing on the trailing ribbon. *S* |

Ed...I'm caught by the emotional pull of this...wanting to see a girl with a kite running in a meadow on a cliff by the sea...and the wind is her perfect partner...but I see a sadness that all who have flown kites know. |

I have no idea what it is that makes us feel this way at times..but I know I have. Always a pleasure to read you. M |

And up it goes until it doesn’t anymore, and how the tail would weave behind, its bow knots turning esslike in the sun, ~*~ Mostly, I'm in like with this poem. |

I've thought about this one a lot since first reading it... and grow ever more appreciative of the images you write... its yellow head wags side to side like a disappointed mother Absolutely brilliant! *S* |

My daughter just turned 11. She hides lipstick from Mommy, breaks the heels off my good shoes, and has managed to lose no less than 200 hair scrunchies. Moments come when I am ready to pull my curls out, and I flash back to a small blond whirlwind, running on fleet-feet to beat the wind, trailing a kite that would never become heaven bound. I was that girl once, many years ago. She was that girl just yesterday. Thank you for painting my child. Sandra |
