An Economy of Tears Middle East meets West. Friendships lapse and strife prevails. Oily tears are shed. I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran |

Hi, writergrl. Thanks for your comment. I have a friend who lives in the Middle East, and she such a nice person that I wanted to write this lamentaion for her, as she is often caught in the middle of the arguments from either side. I must add that she never takes sides. John I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran |

Hi, Shadows. Yes, you just missed my explanation in my last response, but it is a sad state of affairs. John I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran |

You impart generousity and compassion in the concise here John. Caused a prayer to leave my lips as I read this. So many times in life, the innocent pay the price for an economy of tears. Well done. |

Hi, TD. I am glad that you see and felt the impact of this little Haiku. I was hoping that people would "get" it, and you certainly have. Thanks so very much for reading and responding. Nice to meet you, to, writergrl! I have lots of thoughts that I put on "paper," and many of them are responses to the predicaments of friends...or even of strangers. Life can be so wonderful, that it always disturbs me when anyone tries to make it any tougher on anyone else. Focus on the joys, not the sorrows (but write about the sorrows, too!).
