A continuum,
never-ending,
unbending,
transcending,
in perpetuum.

Indifferent
to the pleas,
to the comings and the goings,
the to-ings and the fro-ings,
of tiny human fleas.

Vast,
beyond the ken,
the understanding
or commanding
of mortal men.

And still
we strive
to make our mark
upon the dark--
to be alive!
