I used to be his flower

he courted me,
pledged his love
and his honor,

freestyle, i'd dance
for him
softening december's
cruel hour,

he saved me
from extinction
and insanity

but alas
his crystal vase
tightened taut
round my stem,

my dance
too rehearsed,
and suffered
my power,

yet this day
he still dreams of me,

his sweet browneyed
flower
