October October
bares the branches
and all the golden rain of tree
is like snow upon the ground

Each tiny blossom tracked
onto the carpet of home
remember me remember me
dear and ever love

Did you remind me on purpose
of how I looked then
in my proud display
rounded and beautiful
not fallen

October October
an opening of a dream came
and it wasn’t a storybook
even though it was innocent
with screech and blather

I ate chocolate fudge
in my craving to make sweet
this time when fear threatened
to take away my freedom
not knowing it was freedom
that you gave

How fresh the wound became
each year a pound of pus
and how forgive a callus God
who could be give and taker

I sang my first heart song with you
and gained a chorus lit by voices
I had never heard

Deep within the fields a meadow
reaches to pull me in
and you rode my belly
laughter
oh the laughter of then

I chose you dear one
to open past comfort
the door marked soul train
where you left without a goodbye
that I could understand

I think I understand it now

This is so very beautiful... and may be one of my favorites of your tributes to Michelle... for while there is the sadness of loss... there's also you living. Loving and lovely!!
