I Used to Dream |

I used to dream of romance, And days of chivalry. And pictured me a hero- A gallant, wild and free. I tried to find my kingdom, Somehow it did elude... And seemed to be beyond by grasp. Awakening so rude! I thought someone would love me, Look with enraptured eyes, But maybe I'm maturing, And now I realize- That dreams are for the foolish- Who sit and never act. And, sadly, life has proven To be a morbid fact. My damsel n'er existed- But in my fevered mind. And my entrancing kingdom, I know I'll never find. Wallow in self-pity? Why, no, that's not my lot. I'm grateful for each sunrise- At peace with what I've got. |

Glad I caught this one. I like the ending...no self pity, following laments of disappointment. Rae |
