Why must I always quest symmetry and balance from the discordant cacophony of humanity, hoping to achieve some personal harmony? In nature, I sometimes seek that elusive four-leaf clover while the impudent bonsai laughs at me, for it cares naught for bilateral symmetry, nor does the magestic Sequoia tree. And I cannot deny the balance and harmony that lies within the unity of diversity. Black is white. One absorbing, one reflecting the whole spectrum of reality. The kinetic energy of the sea teems with layers of life's variety interspersed in a fluidity I can barely comprehend, that I cannot live within, but cannot live without. And cosmic spirits are dancing constantly, surrounding my body and soul. They are never balanced equally, but dart capriciously left and right, enticing and teasing me into seeking rapprochement within my own inner reality. So while I sometimes mistakenly seek harmony in worldy discordant cacophony, it is within my own heart I'll find my symmetry. |

While your true nature sits silently in Bliss...watching "you" flit around like a drunken dragonfly. Fun isn't it? ::smiles:: What else is on your schedule? Wonderful write ! |

oh, but you have no idea how that imagery makes me laugh...me, a drunken dragonfly. Closer to the wings of truth than you might imagine. Thanks for stopping by. |

This is one of the more truly introspective, philosophic poems I've encountered on this site and beautifully expressed. Having read it a number of times - as a poem like this must be read to be understood - the only thing I can say is that among the greatest feelings is that which conjoins opposites (ties the shoelaces in our own psyche, in a manner of speaking) for in nature there are none. The feeling of wholeness emanates from there and so seemingly does this poem. |

"The kinetic energy of the sea teems with layers of life's variety interspersed in a fluidity I can barely comprehend, that I cannot live within, but cannot live without. And cosmic spirits are dancing constantly, surrounding my body and soul." Oh what a read. And what a write! I will read this more than once. Well I already have so that statement wasn't as profound as I wanted it to be. So eloquently put, and a pleasure to read. much enjoyed. xxx farewell the ash-tray girl |

I so enjoyed this piece. Strange as I am the opposite. Symmetry and balance elude me. I am threes and fives. Can't abide the sense of pefection and balance in the placement of arrangements on the wall or in the vase. My garden is ascrew with whatever tends to grow wherever it decides to do so. And yet I understood your poem and liked it very much. It must be how you manage to get so much done in your life. And why I admire you .. martyjo [This message has been edited by latearrival (06-15-2006 07:08 AM).] |

Many times I seek symmetry only to realize in nature, as in other things, it finds its own flow and most times is just as beautiful in design/ and meant to be no matter if we try to interfere. M |

Wow, what wonderfully warm replies! In my surroundings, I actually place most everything in asymmetrical patterns, kind of on scales of threes, fives, sevens etc. For I love the concept of levels and descending/ascending through them, earth to sky and back again. That's how I plant and decorate, how I design my kinetic sculptures. And yet I find within my body and mind, I function more efficiently if I focus on balance and symmetry, offsetting my tendency to be...perhaps excessivley right brained? LOL, don't know if this makes much sense, but I seek something I lack, a balance I believe would have made me more productive and maybe financially stable than I am today. Thanks to each of you for your valuable time and input. |
