How many times have been traveled On the lane of dust and gravel Unnoticing Unseeing her claim to fame, The seed she sheds so graciously The berries the birds proclaim? As blacktop converges with the shady drive, A carpet of dotted berries lie. There, Upon the black are bluebirds, Beak-seeking their purple destiny; The good old fruits ordained from the common Mulberry tree. It gives… a hundred thousand baubly fruits, A feast the simple truth; Each berry powdered with bits of dust long awaited loot! Nutritionally, for the gullet good, this gravelly dust convection served hot from pavement platter Coated sweetly to perfection. [This message has been edited by miscellanea (06-15-2006 11:17 AM).] |

How about a little sugar and about five gallons of milk? The milk is to wash down the dust and gravel.... Like this one Misce... |

Thanks, Magnus. I can't believe all the bungles I made after posting this! I hope I finally have it right! (It seems I don't recognize the mistakes until it has been posted on the Blue!) Glad you like it. Sugar and five gallons of milk might not even be enough to wash all that down! Enjoyed your comment. Want some mulberry pie? misc |

Very descriptive writing. I think you captured the mulberry tree very well with this line.... quote: They do make quite a mess, however, your poem does have a joyous message from a bird's eye view. Enjoyed it very much. -Bob |

Lighthouse Bob, Glad you enjoyed the description! At first I thought I'd describe my car, but thought that might not be in good taste if you know what I mean... Yes, I agree... The berries, etc. can be a real mess! Thanks for dropping by. I enjoyed your reply. misc |

Grew up eating mulberries. Loved them. Do not see any now. We had both a blue and white mulberry tree in our neighborhood. I read that Conn. imported a lot of them as they gathered the cocoons of the butterfly to make silk. It was a thriving business for a while. So there were a lot of old Mulberry trees for kids and birds to play in and eat off of. Thanks for the memories. martyjo P.S. I also make all my mistakes in the box and see them after they on on the blue page. LOL |

MissC, oh, those days....how I miss them. I loved our special mulberry tree and all the dragons that were ridden among the heart shaped leaves that bore the stuff that Mom made pie adored (and all the fun). Oh, how I treasured the tree's sweet bough and wish for mulberry pie right NOW!!! luvs you.....jo |
