Gulf Mermaid today in rough waters I took out the boat the motor pushed relentless waves the water emerald had turned grey I sat in splash trying to break my mood tide had swollen feet above the normal and rain snarled in the background sky pink boat shoes propped upon the anchor rope as cloud tears salted my face by wind and the shrimp danced alone on line painfully another Sunday seemed so lost and there close to my foot she showed a beautifully silent serene gentle princess the surprise of my month a gulf mermaid she circled the boat in graceful glide forgotten pole crashed fiberglass hard as I leaned to waters edge to touch this miracle three times she passed my way in my awe then swam to her awaiting lover invisible till now and somehow as the two manatees swam off I felt so new just some words cut from |

I love poems with mermaids in them. Who can resist the temptation to write at least one? |

Manatees! Love them. So homely they are beautiful as mermaids. martyjo Homely = lacking beauty or perfection.. |
