The world could be all poison darts and starve forever hungry hearts without a view beyond the scope of earthly pain and beaten hope. Always there are words that hurt and danger where deceit will lurk, but with no language of the heart who shall see or speak of art? To understand and circumvent the loss whereon the earth is bent one has to find what heaven knows ~ trim the thorns, and keep the rose. ~Klassy Lassy~ |

For the rose is beauty sent for all to share and us to rent. A stem with thorns to deftly hold until the buds do then unfold. Good morning, a pleasure of a poem to read. |

A beautiful sentiment...and a really great poem....although I may not wholly agree with trimming the thorns (sometimes the thorns need to be seen at least in my opinion). Still, I like this piece so much, I'm shelving it.....jo |

Dave, I am smiling. thank you! Iliana, point well taken. Maybe I should put "beware the thorns". Thorns serve a purpose, too. I especially like how Magnus wrote it. It's really nice to see you posting again...missed you! |

Your poem is certainly fine tuned to what it speaks of and definitely negates the negators of poetry and art or at least those who would be indifferent to it. Some things require a reaffirmation or they slowly drain from memory and memory, it seems to me, is explicit to your meaning: 'One has to find what heaven knows' Insightful and a pleasure to read! |

Beautiful write, Klassy Lassy! Without the thorns, would we know the rose? Just a thought. |

Klassy, please don't think about changing this poem....it's perfect the way it is in and of itself....it's only the philosophy that all poetry should be without thorns that I can't buy into.....I'm glad there is rosy poetry (without the thorns), too, though....I'd hate it if everything had thorns. |

Thank you, Iliana. My poem is not well enough grounded to make my point. What I mean is that in a world already so full of thorns, how much sadder it would be without dreams to motivate us to a higher sense of harmony. Roses are rather like that, aren't they? The thorns are the challenge, the fragrance is the passion, the velvet petals are the aspiration. Hugs, Klassy |

Honeybunch, one can only hope that we would. It is true that we value what we must struggle to attain with a greater fervor. Thank you for your comment! ~ Klassy |

Troy, I missed your comment and apologize! Welcome to PIP. Thank you, too, for the time to read and such a thoughtful comment. Life would be so much less without poetry, music, and art, I agree. I can't even imagine the apathy of the world without it. I will be looking to read your work. |
