Your constructive comments are gifts to me. Soul Food Beyond the boundaries of fleshly sight Abides a realm's reside that's very real And silent soundings surely slip and steal Their way to sleeping ears mid slumber's night. But bound by fleshly sounds and selfish plight, Most rarely hear pleas from next door. They feel Contented hearing munching of their meal Mid sties and gourmet's troughs, stuffed with the trite! But those few hearing yonder's heartfelt rings Beyond "fast food fads" and their fetish role, Dine on "soul food" while hearing angel wings! And blest those hungering beyond the toll To "Greasy Spoons," McDonalds, Burgher Kings And dare transcend a Krispy's doughnut hole! Hello BROTHER JOHN. I'm reading 'sex' into your poem. Am I completely offtrack? Also, 'slowfood'. For such a simple structure, a complexity. Oh, I like it when my mind is made to exersise with analogy, and so early in the morning! |

"And blest those hungering beyond the toll" - Not sure if this is such a blessing but enjoyed your words nevertheless. Perhaps to seek more than instant gratification is the secret to a well lived life but who can really know when life passes by so quickly. |

Dear Seymour, Thanks for reading this. This really is a satire on the way most live on "junk foods" when there is healthy foods for the soul. BJ |

Dear Kif Kif You are so right about metaphors. They open the mind and carry it in different directions. I thank you for your comments. Have a blessed day. BJ |

Dear Honeybunch, With your sharp mind, you nailed the essence of this writing. Ours is a society of instant gratifications. Most are satisfied with "quickies" and never seek the real values of life which nourish the soul. From deep within comes soundings to feed the soul, but most just settle for junk foods and the inner person starves. BJ |

Different directions, but it's all spaghetti? I think it's your use of the word 'fetish', a concentration on one part of a wider thing. Plus, your style is sumptuous, and sensual. I took your 'junk food' metaphor to mean the visually concentrated sex industry, but I think it would hold up to everything we consume, and are consumed by. Thanks, you too! |
