5043 Seven Days of May 07 February 2006 Was it those empty promises God did to her give The day she gave birth in less than seven days to live An unmarked grave desolate in ways of green Her child gone to earth of this beginning to dream Many years no stone to mark his small infant body her tears This son oldest neither to shine his brothers and sister hearts of own in years Each day she would mourn her baby that never did grow Of those anniversaries of birth Her child forever young to know “in memory of John Keith Herbert” (09 May 1952 - 14 May 1952) the brother we never knew © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |
