Tapered Light Recall an uncharted trail as petals fall Once begun in wistful arch of brush and wrist Sunflower Sunday wears a blush of coral rouge In a wedge of discarded sticks to hold a spirit up Perhaps elapsing heavy and full a gangling G Clef Or taken tone, might willow in an oaken moment Rich and robust, the breath drawn deeply in Just visiting on a guess of fond appeals seal Though even in vain, the chant of pinecone sound Might there be berries hidden undercover of leaves On and on, never to predict the compass turn A slight right, more to the left of ego or sundown I prayed here, in a casual shirt and barefoot Watched for miracles and listened for a perfect pitch Caught on the fly, as daylight faded, returning me A glance cast over my shoulder met the thin sigh of again Copyright Kkh 5/29/06 |
