A Dying Ivy

we met over dying ivy
no lightening struck but
that day bared the root of things
where everything changed
the limbs of naked truth
feelings of uncontrollable passion
and grief that shouts pure agony
pain that rips the pores of me
and settles in as second skin
I don’t know how it happened
this casual to be so intimate
so separate to be so equal
lifetime of lifetimes chasing
to arrive light years apart
living in this suffering
to breathe the sheer ache
between tenderness and torture
please understand in this sorrow
my face feels your tears

“all romantics meet the same fate”…Joni Mitchell

Your imagry is spectacular!  This was such a great use of words I was drawn to reread it for the sheer pleasure of them.

Helen,
You do emote so well! It's good to get to read your writing again. Peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Helen,

the give/take
tear apart/put together
puzzle/answer
of this poem
is exquisite.

Well done, young lady!
