It is the drug
of which I feed
a way of life
fulfilling my need
I breathe you in

exhaling slowly

while I savor
the in between
from this addiction
I can't be weaned.

I feel it coursing
through my veins
to be without it
would cause me to be
insane.

I feel the slow burn

the sudden rush

the madness is calmed
I hear the hush...

I await the words

that touch..

that moment of sigh

your words, my addiction
the ultimate high.

{Five hundred twenty five thousand
six hundred minutes
five hundred twenty five thousand
moments to dear
five hundred twenty five thousand
six hundred minutes
how do you measure - measure a year?

In daylights-in sunsets
in midnights-in cups of coffee
in inches- in miles
in laughter- in strife

In five hundred twenty five thousand
six hundred minutes
how do you measure
the year in a life  }
{from Rent}

please tell me those words
must be intoxicating
even addicting

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

I know this addiction all too well...

If at first you don't succeed destroy all the evidence that you tried.

It's odd, how written words can be sooo addicting isn't it?   Thank you all for your words here. Hugs.

Lee, the addiction is the written words that bring a smile to our faces, the poetry....

Well, we are all hooked...

Especially when we read "words" like these.

You are on a roll right now, well done!

Speaking of highs, this needs to go back to the top

Hi Donna....much power in those words...they are the dress that covers so much.

Vivid.

a bit scary though to be on such addiction.

A poetry on the dark side of the society.

Enjoyed

I can shoot my veins full of things
Yet never reach the high that words bring,
But not all drugs are alike in action,
Some sound dull while others sing,
Yours sings with emotion.

Sing to me as a caress of the cheek
