5624 Fantasies Void 20 August 2006 When love was distance and a heart could beat but only once Where was that assurance of desire an impossible choice, just to walk away For did we love, because we could love or was this idea of amour already lost An ocean and rivers to cross the excitement unable to share Gathering that hope of yesterday troubled by what stood before To want to trust in reality yet thrust into a fantasy overcome in void The valid nature of love forbidden due to complex All a man wanting, to find and admire her, and tied in what happens next “. . . We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. Give us the tools and we will finish the job.” Sir Winston Churchill, Radio speech, 1941 British politician (1874 - 1965) British Prime Minister 1940-1945, 1951-1955; © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |
