The famous “ten” commandments
(someone once told me)
are not suggestions, or even requests:
they are, as stated, commandments – laws
instituted by none other than the Almighty God.
That being the case they must be obeyed
their purpose fulfilled
or there’ll be hell to pay - and don’t we know it!

Fine, I say, believe what you will;
here I am, watching you obey these commandments;
watching to see if in some way you fail
to do all that is required within.

Never have I seen anyone keep these commandments;
not even those who claim to fear the Lord
and I can’t help but wonder
how well imposed “laws” really work
in any system composed of sentient intelligence –
especially when the record indicates
that the very law giver
himself broke most of them:
(and perhaps all of them, who’s to tell?)

How many times did God kill innocents
just because he was mad at a few?
The flood comes to mind
as does the genocidal invasion of the “Promised Land”.
How many times did God covet,
boldly claiming, “I am a jealous God
who punishes those who do not acknowledge me.”
How many times did God swear
(to do this or that, yet did not keep his sworn promises?)

I could go on.  But the point is made.
The so-called “commandments” are politics,
pure and simple.
If you make the laws, you don’t have to keep them.

They are things that have been commanded to take place.  They were never meant to be "laws" that "men" are to WORK to KEEP or that "men" can bring forth.  They are PROMISES that were COMMANDED to come into being.  They were placed in the Ark of the Covenant.  The Ark of PROMISE.  They are not "tasks" that man is to perform or cease from.  They are Promises of that which  WILL be...with the coming of Christ.  The fact that they were COMMANDED shows that they cannot fail at coming into being.
The fact that they were placed in the Ark of the Covenant...shows that they are types and shadows of Christ.
They are Ten Promises that have been Commanded to BE.
Their fulfillment is not dependant upon "you".
Be Still...
::smiles::   It's all gravy, baby.

An interesting posting…

I am glad you watch me fail.
I hope you are smart enough
to learn from my mistakes.
Hypocrites can only exist
in church.
So RAGE against God
but beware
of your own understanding,
or lack of.

that we are doomed to failure, is the very reason for the cross and our Savior who died for us
No we will never understand the essence of the events in the Old Testament nor can we know the mind of God, but one thing I do know is that negativity will kill the seed of faith we are all given...hope, on the other hand, makes it grow

The commmandments were given to show us what perfection (God) is, and so we can see how imperfect we are.  If we don't see that, we have no need for a Savior.  Who needs saved when they aren't lost?  Only Jesus kept all the commandments, fulfilling that perfection through love, of even His enemies.

Sounds like an atheist rant slapped together in a "form of poetry." It didn't do anything for me, sorry.

I have read a lot of your poems and it looks to me that you are just trying to chase controversy. I mean no offense. It just seems like you're trying to anger people. And it seems rather forced, no offense.
