Candle Lit Candle lit In minds eye Where shadows play With memories Of words Touches Tears Bruises Kisses Long and tender And some Harsh and gripping Candle burns Deeper shadows Arrive like scents Gone too fast Before they are Recognized Was it lavender Or cologne? Was it a summer’s day Or a fall night Was it real Had to be I still feel it Still bear the mark Covered now In ink Candle out Mind enveloped in dark Comforting again All is as it was Should be Buried for another day Another Candle |

The presence of shadows before a lit candle is an excellent metaphor...controling one's thoughts and feelings. Enjoyed this write. TD |
