Travis

Travis is a friend that I keep
At a distance to protect myself
From the albatross around his neck
An albatross that shows herself in the form of a wife.
This bird is a strange one
Demanding the status of royalty,
Intellectual,
Dictator all at once
And without exception I see Travis
Strive, fail, and fail again
To give this vulture what she wants
Thinking that her crooked smile will lend itself
To what is not owed her
When it is, in fact, a friend that she owes me.

I wonder if this wife ( fictional) perhaps thinks the one who is just a friend at a distance isn't the vulture preying on her husband..just a thought from one who knows.

A good write especially if it beings out emotions in me about a subject I know too well.

Thanks for the read. Unfortunatly, Travis is my friend and in all honesty I think his wife does somewhat resemble a bird - aggressive or not. Can't say it to him so I'll say it to you. Thanks again.
