In This, My Darkest Hour
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As shadows slip down weeping walls,
in shadows dark I cower.
I sink to depths, not known before,
in this, my darkest hour.

Has Light of God abandoned me,
and banished me to Hell?
No longer can I hear the sounds,
of Heaven's tolling Bell.

Demons yowl, and wrench and yank,
at this, my vanquished soul.
My seeping blood stains tattered veils,
as Evil takes its toll.

A brilliant Light lit up the cell,
of this, my sinner's prison.
An angel spoke, right to my heart,
"Your soul will soon be risen."

"How can that be? ~ For I have sinned,
and turned my back on God.
I lived my life for no one else,
and tromped on sinking sod."

"Fear not your death, for it will bring,
about a new rebirth.
So you may spread the Words of God,
to Man on Mother Earth.”

What a wonderful thought.  I've been told you can never be so useless that God can't use you, and you can never be so down that he can't raise you up.  You show it here.

Howdy, Pilgrim! It's been awhile!

I enjoyed your thoughtful response. I was hoping that my poem would be viewed that way!

Personally, I have never turned my back on God because I'd be too afraid to go it alone! lol

Good to hear from you! Hope all is well with you and yours!

Linda
you possess an ability to enter other dimensions of the mind...along with a charasmatic aura...that is always a white dove in anyone's window...
and that is my answer to....

Has Light of God abandoned me,
and banished me to Hell?
No longer can I hear the sounds,
of Heaven's tolling Bell.

you have the ability to not only prove love is not an obstacle to bringing one’s dreams to life, but a force urging lovers of life and passion, to conquer their dreams, thus finding God. I suggest, you take the critique of others to heart, and abandon these impure sounds of a not so nice place.  We love you Linda....thanks to you always for your light and love.

You write even the depths of darkness with a touch of beauty...

Many times those fires of hell are refining us... showing us what we're truly made of... and what we can make of ourselves if we remember to look up instead of down. *S*

Dear Earth Angel, I like the way you write your poetry, I write that way to. I love the dead poets. I love to see a poem written the way  you wrote it. Well done.

Hello Linda, Soul Sister of Mine ~~ God always watches over his 'earth angels' and raises them up when they are down trodden.

You, dear lady, are one of the special angels and His Light will always shine on you.

Love you lots and feel your pain.

I am reminded that we cannot go so low
that He cannot scoop us up...

and that in the instances that you've been
played, it is common and most likely

to feel these emotions.  The fact is...

you ARE feeling these emotions.

And they, and your faith, and their love...
will always see you through.

(angel comfort hugs) Oh Linda, the wisdom blooming from the last stanza of your poem is absolutely true, and though I have yet to myself really live the emotional depth of this lesson having only experienced losses beyond family, just the envisioning of it tugs at my heart, and with a couple of my closest poet friends passing away since I've started writing (Joyce Mutington, Madame Chipmunk) who have most influenced me and also had many close phone conversations with me and such, they alone have been huge emotional experiences for me, as it is difficult to fill such spiritual voids like those, which you fortunately wonderfully are one of my best special poet friends that do so, yay! (hugs) God Bless You, dearest friend, the flower, or in other case the substance, may not live forever, but the beauty and spirit lives forever, and continues to proliferate across the meadows of everyone's heart like dandelion seeds! This is a most heartfelt poem, dearest friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
