i'll bundle up in bed
after waking for the tenth time this hour
then rise again
and pace in circles
until i can run to meet you at the finish to this line.

my head's gonna spin away from me
like those beads you dropped on the floor
and my skin's gonna shivver and shake
until i shed it straight off my body
and i'm a heap of bones and dried up thoughts
that puddles at the doormat
'till the sun dries everything up.

i'm gonna think myself to exhaustion
so that my eyes can't ever close
and my words won't ever stop
racing into blurs
at the space behind my eyes.

that phone doesn't stop ringing
but it's connection's always bad.
and the channels don't stop changing
but they're always on a commercial break, these days.

red x's on the calender
mark days closer to you
and further from the shining days
we shattered through in five minutes flat.

your sentences appear
six inches from my sight
but they move you miles deeper into black
and across the blue i could never break.

i'm gonna put myself on warning
because i know i'll breathe myself to death here.
i'm gonna lock the doors and windows
draw the curtains to hide the day.

come wake me up, and bring me back.
or lay next to me and dream the same.
