Some how the time slipped away.
Like the morning of September 11th.
I walked into the room, a smile upon your face.
Remembering it now, it was your way of saying everything is gonna be okay.
You told us just smile.
To look up at the screen for awhile.

Bodies fell from the smoky ruins of tragedy.
The chalk dust settled in the air.
We were reading about Daisy.
Wasn't it just the American Dream.
Gatsby knew it. We couldn't see.
But there we went to protect it again.

A few months later,
the morning was cold.
It was early monday morning.
Your smile wasn't there, but it lingered.
Then the tears that we cried.

To remember your smile.
Is to remember your brave.
The courage to surrender.
Weakness will abide.
To remember the smile upon your face.
Not to hide.

In Loving Memory!  gmc <3

You touched me with your words.
I think that's what it is all about.
