quilt hanging on porch railin’ charcoal man knows no shadow hair lady no mess of he’ll be back red poutin’ lip bent to heart or pink shell toes gone only gone and the vague smell of anger some say her Papa drove his char right to the porch railin’ carried his doucette home to her princess shoes some say she walked the dusty river road barefoot again catfish wrapped around the warm rock of brogan wearing man from the boats it don matter his lady left charcoal man a bed gift congo wrapped warm waitin’ c'est tout |
