My Beautiful Kin

01 August 2005

When so many people
wanted to be friends
But only one would do
I know that I became
that friend for you

My beautiful kin
fight the race and win
Your happiness
I hold out to you
My heart trembles
to know this desire was true

My beautiful kin
remember just us is good
and that was all I need to say
All I want was to know you are well
and we’ll still be in touch from this day

Each month passes
each day does die
To hold you near in thought
and never need to question why

“Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be
well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship
is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the
shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.”
George Washington (1732 - 1799)
First president of United Stares of America

That is beautiful.
