              Verbatim

(Or, the treachery of her purrrrr)

She used to ask me “Can I steal that line?”
when she would hear a poem in something I said.
It could have been anything at all.
Most often I would give it to her, with a smile.
She was so hard to refuse.

Months later, instead of asking, she would tell me
that she was going to use a word, a phrase, an idea,
though in that courtesy I knew that she had already
picked my pocket, not entirely politely.

Now, after we had become disconnected,
               after our roads had diverged,
               she has returned.

She has become a cat burglar,
               sneaking into my head
and lifting lines I have not yet spoken, word for word,
like jewelry I have not yet worn, gem for gem.

A poem I that I was about to write to her,
               I discover,
she has just written to me.

               How can this be?

I could give you a bunch of crap about the matrix, and how connections once fired, repeat the rounds and jump those hurdled synapses more readily, but then? Shrug... why don't we just call it "sympatico"?

It's so much more apt and musical.

enjoyed reading you m'friend

There is no such thing as coincidence..
Kismet?...naw...perhaps she is a mind reader?

I so much enjoyed reading you this evening Kraw.

Yes!

She has become a cat burglar,
sneaking into my head
and lifting lines I have not yet spoken, word for word,
like jewelry I have not yet worn, gem for gem.

Delightful work.

Why, Sir...
she just curled up
amidst the gray matter
and lapped the milk of poetry
and one muse
quite clean.

Oh my...well done!

So much so, IWIHWT...
