Listening to every heart

White Cool

Sun blazoned grasses ’neath
dark withering leaves
curling ’round petals
that bore earth and love scents
moments ago

heat springs eternally
internal in summertime…

some cracks in the concrete
would fill in, maybe
with running waters, but
only if it could melt rock
once again…

and backlighting comes in
through a window moment when
veins of leaves are sun-struck
showing their need
to them that would smile
knowing they turned just
to watch the sun set.

They do, you know. Even as
a day’s heat will bake them dry
bringing them near close
to extinction…

still, leaves and scented petals
will follow the sun, until
the white cool of moon
lets them just
be.

Just beautiful Karilea!
It has been so hard keeping up with the watering this summer.
What a scorcher it has been.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

so beautiful
we are into three digits now
for a few days
and the flowers
and my keets
are complaining
thanks for the word refreshments!
and for your generous reply to my lavendar bouquet feather duster

The words almost float off the tongue as I read them out loud.  This poem is a painting of words.

We gaze upon our favored flowers
but cannot mete their healing powers.
We know our soul absorbs such bowers
As joy within ascends new towers.

Lovely to read you.  Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
